SCIENCE

From scientific insight to human evidence.

SiPore® has been developed through more than 15 years of research, progressing from fundamental and preclinical investigation into human clinical evaluation. The research program explores how precisely engineered porous silica can influence digestion, how SiPore® performs in controlled human studies, what is observed in real-world use, and how the technology is tolerated.

15+ years of SiPore® research.

SiPore® has progressed from early mechanism and preclinical research into controlled human studies, larger-scale clinical validation and evidence from real-world and consumer settings.

MORE THAN 15 YEARS OF RESEARCH

Built step by step.

SiPore® did not begin as a finished consumer product. The technology grew out of scientific work investigating how precisely controlled porous materials could interact with digestion. Over more than 15 years, the research program has progressed through fundamental investigation, preclinical research and human clinical evaluation.

FEATURED CLINICAL RESEARCH
CLINICAL

The SHINE Trial

SHINE was a large randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter clinical trial evaluating engineered mesoporous silica particles in individuals with overweight or obesity and prediabetes or newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes. The study was published in eClinicalMedicine, a Lancet Discovery Science journal.

MECHANISM RESEARCH

Science at the level of digestion.

SiPore®’s mechanism is based on precisely engineered porous silica particles. Evidence from preclinical research has been used to investigate how those pores interact with digestive enzymes such as amylase and lipase, and how this can influence the breakdown of carbohydrates and fats. The technology is designed to work locally in the gastrointestinal tract rather than entering the bloodstream.

SAFETY & TOLERABILITY

Studied in people. Generally well tolerated.

Safety and tolerability have been evaluated across the SiPore® research program. Across human research, SiPore® has been generally well tolerated. SiPore® also has a distinctive local mode of action: the technology works in the gastrointestinal tract and does not enter the bloodstream.

Questions about the science?

What is SiPore®?
SiPore® is a patented technology based on precisely engineered porous silica particles, designed to work locally during digestion.
How does SiPore® work?
Its engineered pores entrap a portion of digestive enzymes involved in breaking down carbohydrates and fats, slowing digestion so energy from the meal enters the system more gradually.
Does SiPore® enter the bloodstream?
No. SiPore® works locally in the gastrointestinal tract.
Has SiPore® been studied in people?
Yes. The SiPore® research program includes human clinical evaluation, including placebo-controlled studies.
How has SiPore® been tolerated?
Across human research, SiPore® has been generally well tolerated.
