SiPore Technologies
SiPore® Technologies is the corporate brand of Sigrid Therapeutics AB, a Swedish science and technology company developing SiPore®, a patented platform designed to influence how meals are processed during digestion. The company brings together materials science, metabolic research, clinical development and product innovation to develop SiPore® and bring it to market through consumer products, healthcare-professional channels and commercial partners.

Developing SiPore® from science to market.
SiPore Technologies owns and develops SiPore®. The company’s work spans research and development, clinical research, intellectual property and commercial development.
- RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENTAdvancing the engineered SiPore® particle, its mechanism and new applications.
- CLINICAL RESEARCHBuilding the human evidence base behind SiPore®.
- INTELLECTUAL PROPERTYProtecting the technology, formulations and applications through an international patent portfolio.
- COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTBringing SiPore® to market through SIGRID, SiPore® Pro and external partner brands.

Research that began at Stockholm University.
The origins of SiPore® go back to research initiated at Stockholm University in 2007, led by Professor Tore Bengtsson and his research group. The starting question was different from the usual approach to metabolic health:
Could the digestive process itself become an intervention point? That question led to research into precisely engineered porous silica and its ability to interact physically with digestive enzymes in the gastrointestinal tract.
What began as academic research has since developed into SiPore® - a patented technology platform supported by more than 15 years of preclinical and human research.
From university research to commercial application.
- 2007Research begins at Stockholm UniversityProfessor Tore Bengtsson and his research group begin investigating porous silica and local modulation of digestion.
- 2014-2020Mechanism and first human researchPreclinical research advances understanding of the engineered particle and digestive-enzyme interaction. The program progresses into first-in-human safety and mechanism studies.
- 2021-2023Clinical program expandsHuman studies extend the research into metabolic-health outcomes, alongside continued mechanism and materials research.
- 2024First U.S. consumer launchSiPore® reaches consumers in the United States through a SIGRID product.
- 2026Large-scale clinical validationThe 318-participant SHINE randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial is published in eClinicalMedicine, part of The Lancet Discovery Science.
- TODAYA technology platform with multiple routes to marketSiPore® is brought to market through SIGRID, SiPore® Pro and commercial partners, while research and development continue across existing and future applications.
Materials science applied to digestion.
SiPore® began with materials engineering. Its porous silica particles are precisely manufactured to control physical characteristics such as particle size and porosity. Those engineered properties give the particle its function during digestion. Research then evaluates the technology at multiple levels - from mechanism and materials science through human clinical studies and real-world evidence.
- ENGINEER THE MATERIALPrecisely control the physical structure of the particle.
- UNDERSTAND THE MECHANISMStudy how the particle interacts with digestive enzymes locally in the gut.
- TEST IN PEOPLEEvaluate SiPore® through controlled human research.
More than 15 years of research.
From fundamental materials research to human clinical evaluation, the SiPore® research program continues to build the evidence behind the platform.
One technology platform. Three routes to market.
Consumer products. SIGRID is the company’s owned consumer brand for SiPore®-powered products sold through SigridLife.com.
Powered by SiPore®
Healthcare professional products. SiPore® Pro is the practitioner-facing brand for professional products, ordering and education.
Licensing and white label. External companies can bring SiPore® to market through partner-owned products using the Powered by SiPore® endorsement.
